High/Low Quality Examples of Student Work

This is a high quality example of a student's work. This student completed the Lacrosse assessment with 100%, meeting all the requirments for each question. This student did a nice job explaining each part of the question, and keeping it to the point. There wasn't any question that this student knew the cues for Lacrosse, and that she could apply them in a game situation.

This is a low quality example of a student's work. This student failed to meet all of the requirements for most questions. This student's lack of knowledge shows me that he/she needs more practice and review of the skills learned for Lacrosse. It also shows me that the student was not paying attention when I reviewed the skills and the cues for each skill.

This assessment has helped me to understand that all students learn at a different rate, and that different types of assessments are necessary in order to understand the areas of need of all students.

Resources

Here are a couple of resources that I have used consistently during my student teaching. PE Central has a multitude of activities, assessment ideas and much, much more! It has been a great resource and I will continue to use it in the future most definately!

Mrgym.com has been a really useful site when looking for new games and activities to introduce to the students. I encourage anyone to check it out if your looking for new games and activities to be shared in your gym or school!!

Students Checking Heart Rates

Heart Rates

We are learning about heart rates and our Target Heart Rate Zone (TRHZ). The students have been working on staying in their THRZ during the activities. We played speedball and the students were stopped every few minutes to check their heart rates. I taught the students how to check their heart rates by counting their pulse and also by using the Heart Rate Batons that reads their heart rates digitally by placing palms on the baton. The students were very engaged in learning about how to get their heart rates up and into their THRZ and keeping it there.
